"Dahanu" is the place about mesmerizing sunset, endless silver sand beach's, greenery, mountains, vegetation, folklore, seafood, the list is endless.
Dahanu is famous for the mouth watering "chickoo"
fruit, vegetation, coconut, tody(taadi), beverage extracted from palm
trees. Over 30 to 40% of chickoo comes from Dahanu. Dahanu has become
famous for pleasant nature and attracts tourist on regular basis from
Mumbai and nearby city's in Gujarat.
Dahanu is a coastal town, so its not a surprise to find fresh fish and
other sea food. Government of India has declared Dahanu as a Green zone,
hence there is not much industrial development due to the new
environment regulations.
Dahanu Thermal Power Station (DTPS) is Reliance Energy Ltd's single
largest power plant. It is a 500 MW power generation facility using
coal.
Towards the west of town is the Arabian sea, while the east is lined up with majestic sahyadri mountain ranges.
The best attraction in Dahanu is the sunset and undoubtedly the beach which is spans over 15 kms or more.
Dahanu has three English medium high schools and other regional language
schools. There are well equipped hospitals & pharmacy's too.
Mode of transport is state buses and auto rickshaws.
Dahanu has a tropical climate and stays very hot during summer. The
temperature between April to June can range from 30 to 40 degrees.
Rain's follow in the month of June till September.
Foreign tourist should note that there are no fast food outlets like
McDonald's, KFC or Burger King over here so will have to depend on local
food. There are excellent resort's in Dahanu where ample choice of
delicious food is served. Please carry enough local currency (Indian
Rupees) as credit cards are rarely used or accepted in Dahanu. There are
national and private bank's, so foreign exchange or cash withdrawal is
not a problem. Most resorts and hotels are located right by the beach.
Tourist should carry, required medication and good
mosquito repellent sufficient for the stay.
Popular resort's over here are Pearline beach resort, Seashells resort,
Crazy Crab resort and Seawood beach hotel. There are no coffee shops or
pubs over here.The lifestyle in Dahanu is mostly laid back.
Dahanu is famous for landmarks like Sai baba temple, Mahalaxmi temple, Hanuman temple, Dahanu fort and Mahadev mandir.
