Dahanu can be reached by rail or by road. Nearest mega city is Mumbai. Dahanu is about 120 kms away from Mumbai. It takes roughly 2.5 hrs road trip from Mumbai to reach Dahanu.
Reaching Dahanu by rail is faster compared to a road trip. It takes roughly an 1.30 hrs to reach here by express train's leaving from Mumbai central. Following is the detail of train's leaving from Mumbai Central station to Dahanu Road.

Reaching Dahanu, by rail is the cheapest mode of transport. Foreigner's are advised to travel by reserved first class coach as sometimes finding a place to seat in the general coach is quiet a task!! Tourist's (especially female) are advised to not travel alone in trains and also never accept food items offered by strangers. Please carry enough water during train journey. Foreign tourist are also advised to wear suitable clothing while traveling around Dahanu. This will not attract too much attention from local people. Tourist are also advised to not try sunbathing at the beach. Sunbathing at Dahanu beach is something rarely done.

Dahanu has tropical climate and stays very warm during summer's. Carry enough clothing suitable for warm climate. High factor sun lotion is a must unless you don't mind going brown fast.
